Utility Maintenance Operator
Hourly Position
Summary
This position assists in the maintenance and repair of the City’s distribution and sanitary sewer lines
Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Assist the crew leader by preparing the area to repair the line. This may include hand digging, raking, breaking and removing concrete, etc.
Assist in preventative maintenance on lines as directed.
Assist in laying new lines as directed.
Operate equipment, within scope of training and expertise, as needed to perform essential job duties.
Ability to take after hour calls on a periodic basis - standby
Must be available for emergency calls which requires several UM employees to assist in the repair of a significant event.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This is a field position which the employee is exposed to extreme temperatures, water, waste and uneven surfaces.
Physical Demands
This is position requires digging, raking, operating heavy equipment and walking on uneven surfaces. Lifting up to 55 pounds is required
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Normal days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:00a to 2:30p This schedule may vary if necessary.
Travel
Limited travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma and/or equivalent experience or ability to perform the essential functions of the job
- One year of work experience, primarily in a manual labor environment
Preferred Education and Experience
- Two years equipment experience.
- Two years of related experience.
