SAPULPA YOUTH SPORTS COUNCIL
Organized in 1999, the Sapulpa Youth Sports Council is comprised of the Presidents of each of the City’s four main youth sports organizations and the City’s Director of Parks and Recreation. The Council acts as a community barometer, continually studying and soliciting the youth and amateur sports needs of the Sapulpa community and its citizens, and promotes and advances the same in the Sapulpa, Creek County, and Statewide areas as needed.
The Sapulpa Youth Sports Council provides an organizational structure to assist with the identification of Sapulpa youth sports facility and program needs, for the provision and coordination of sports facilities within the community for the various local youth athletic organizations, including those existing by virtue of a joint use agreement between other organizations or parties.
The Sapulpa Youth Sports Council interprets the needs and interests of youth involved in community athletics, and assists youth leagues in obtaining financial sponsorships for improving existing facilities or creating new ones, and serves as a consultant in an advisory capacity to the Sapulpa Parks and Recreation Board, and the Sapulpa City Council concerning youth sports in Sapulpa. The Sapulpa Youth Sports Council promotes the ideals of sportsmanship, fellowship, leadership and fair play by making youth sports fun for kids, and insures that all youth sports coaches are properly trained and certified via the National Youth Sports Coaches Association Program, which is administered by the Sapulpa Parks and Recreation Department.
Background checks are performed on all coaches.
